In the midst of these fearmongering tactics, I cannot afford to hold or subdue the ongoing thoughts in my mind. It seems that in a time where we should be fostering unity and love, the media is misleading the masses into submitting to fear while failing to understand that a fearful person attracts misery upon him. My hope is to share my thoughts on this so-called pandemic. More importantly, my sincerest desire is to inspire others to shine their light, to embrace their authenticity, and to share their unconditional-loving embrace because, as a people, we now need it more than ever. One of my favorite poems “Our Deepest Fear” conveys an important message that I firmly believe in. In fact, this poem has been constantly propagated in popular culture and movies such as “Coach Carter” that we often overlook it. Williamson’s poem encourages us all to wholeheartedly embrace our essence:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness
That most frightens us.
We ask ourselves
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small
Does not serve the world.
There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking
So that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine,
As children do.
We were born to make manifest
The glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us;
It’s in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
We unconsciously give other permission to do the same.
As we’re liberated from our own fear,
Our presence automatically liberates others.

A powerful and liberating poem if you ask me. You see, I had come across this poem countless times, but I had not really pondered its essence until this past year. Upon enduring sequences of hardships and personal battles, I came to the realization that we are all inherently blessed. Life can truly be lovely in every fathomable aspect of our lives. We are all born with a special gift that effortlessly comes to us more than others. In fact, a good way to witness your gift is to pay attention to what your closest ones admire the most about you. Surrendering to the influence of the Holy Spirit helped me to transcend above personal limiting beliefs and social constructs intended to prevent one from becoming a free thinker.
Prior to understanding this truth, I don’t think I would have had the courage to write this blog if someone had asked me. Whenever one is on the quest to self-discovery, and he is met with resistance. I say, keep going, you’re definitely onto something. I have had to make personal sacrifices along the way, and I don’t think the journey gets any easier, but it’s truly rewarding in every sense of the way. One is able to re-awaken and witness the greatness inside him, just as I was reminded of the power of faith and unconditional love.
With the coronavirus rapidly spreading amongst us, I cannot help but think that this publicity is only contributing to a divisive attitude. Yes, I understand that this is a serious problem, but there has also been people recover from it. I think the most important thing is to not lose faith in the Most High, for “no weapon forged against you will prevail”. It is crucial for us to not give up our power of faith, because “we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”. It is now pivotal more than ever to question everything presented to you; it is our duty to seek and discern our truth. To simply accept these fear tactics presented to you means that you are surrendering your power. I do not think that is how we are meant to live our lives, “for the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline”.
