July is upon us, and this year is racing on its own pace. It seems as if life is rolling on fast forward, I am truly astonished by how fast this year is flying by. Despite of all that has happened, July still remains to me an important month for many reasons. Needless to say, it is a time where I find the greatest gratification in reflecting on my progress and where I celebrate another marked year in my book. Just when I think of it, it was around this time that I really started to publish thought-provoking articles on this website. In spite of many personal challenges I have had to overcome, I am not anywhere near satisfied with what I have been able to accomplish. This has not been an easy journey; it is like riding a rough tide that comes in ferocious waves. I have had many successes and many failures that perplexed me into questioning my worth and potential.
Over the course of the past year, one important lesson that I have learned is that “the fact you were born and are still alive to this day is evidence that you possess something within you to benefit the world”. Not many of us have the fortune to grow in ideal environments that foster the cultivation of young kings and queens. In fact, this is a stereotypical stigma heavily portrayed on black culture among the media, which inadvertently influences many aspiring children to settle for less and not dare to dream. With this new rhythm emerging, I am elated to find many of my peers and friends taking the opportunity to unleash their potential, because the greatest travesty to humanity is a life lived without fellowship. I am wholeheartedly convinced that every human being fundamentally possesses that essence of greatness within them, but some of us grow up in abusive environments that dim their light or coerce them into fulfilling expectations imposed by society. I genuinely believe that: this is no way to live. At the end of the day, if one deeply desires meaning in his life, he will have to move with purpose to find his passion. Having said that, it is equally important to understand that not everyone will want the same thing. While humans have the power of free will, they do not however have the power to choose the outcomes of their choices.
Any person seeking truth and meaning in his life “must activate their inherent potential for the benefit of many”, just as we learn in the first law of thermodynamics. Consequently, we must work to transform that potential energy into kinetic energy, whether it is geared toward procreation or advancement of humanity. This realization helped me understand that there are established universal laws designed to guide one’s path towards manifesting his vision. Before I end this entry, I would like to share some of the keys to unleashing the hidden potential:
- Know Your Source: this is a fundamental key pertaining to this principle, this Source of greatness is not in some of us, it is in all of us. But it is our responsibility to seek it and activate it. A product’s failure to live in fellowship with its source ensues death. Take for instance, a flower that is cut off from its roots surely dies at that exact moment. Although the death is not immediately apparent, but that same flower slowly withers and dies while sitting in that vase. Have you ever really looked at the agony a fish suffers once it is moved from the water, admittedly it is not a beautiful sight. No person can surely know the principal function or purpose of a product other than its designer or creator.
- Know Your Environment: the quality of an environment determines the fate of a product, seed, or spore. A seed will not germinate in an environment that does not foster ideal conditions, just as a parasite or virus will not proliferate in an environment that does not favor its ideal conditions. The same principle applies for both, which led me to believe that we ultimately become a reflection of what we allow to influence us.

- Keep Striving and Don’t Quit: what I have come to realize from studying stories of all figures deemed successful in our society is that they all share one common theme. They do not possess any set-apart greatness, talent, or distinguished gifts, but rather share a tenacious grit that drove them to manifest their vision despite what was going on in their lives.
Growing is not easy, and change is uncomfortable. In fact, I have had my fair share of colossal mistakes, but that is not going to stop me from continuing to cultivate my seeds into a blossoming pasture. So, start enjoying the process, and remember that as long as you live, you prevail.
